The Benton shirt is made with industrial hemp fiber grown right here in Montana. This material and fabric is made 100% by American hands, allowing us to proudly claim American Farmed AND American Made! The 30% Montana Gold ® hemp fiber, blended with 70% American Grown Pima Cotton, adds durability and breathability, providing you with a comfortable western style shirt that looks great and wears well.

Fort Benton, the historic town on the banks of the Missouri River that is the namesake for this product has a rich story to tell. Widely accepted as the birthplace of Montana, this region is known to host pioneering and hardworking people from Lewis and Clark to the fur traders and homesteaders who settled this land.
Like those first pioneers who forged west to explore and develop new and exciting opportunities, our partners IND HEMP built the infrastructure in this small rural community to establish the first commercial scale Hemp Fiber processing facility in the United States, which is able to produce for us this high-quality Montana Gold® hemp fiber. This region and the people who live and work within it, are committed to the legacies of their grandparents and the stewardship of this land that is still in production today. We couldn't think of a more fitting town and community of people to take inspiration from and dedicate our first 100% USA Grown and USA Made Hemp Shirt to.
While the majority of textile processing and clothing manufacturers have gone overseas, Smith and Rogue has developed a 100% American grown and made product. We are committed to supporting a complete domestic supply chain and have overcome many challenges along the way, bringing you this high-quality shirt.
Our hemp was grown on a family farm just north of Fort Benton, Montana and then processed, cleaned and prepared by the local employees of IND HEMP. The fiber then went to North Carolina (Bear Fiber), South Carolina, and Georgia, where the last of the domestic American textile processing infrastructure and industry is located. There it was degummed, cottonized, spun and then woven into fabric. From there the fabric made the last trek up to NY where the material was dyed, cut, and then sewn into the shirt you now see as ‘The Benton’.
